Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Sajjanar has issued a strong warning to students and parents about rising medical seat scams, especially as the NEET admission season approaches.
In an advisory, Sajjanar said fraudsters are targeting families by promising MBBS seats under management quota even for candidates with low NEET scores. He cautioned that such claims are often false and used to extract large sums of money.
According to police, several cases have already been reported where middlemen exploited the aspirations of students by offering admissions in both Indian and foreign medical colleges. Countries such as China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Armenia are often cited by these agents to lure victims with claims of low cost education.
Sajjanar emphasized that parents should not rely on verbal assurances or unofficial channels for admissions. Instead, they must verify whether the institution is recognized by the National Medical Commission through official sources before making any payments.
He also advised the public to immediately report any suspicious demands for money in exchange for seats by contacting the police. Authorities said awareness and caution are the best ways to prevent falling victim to such scams.
The warning comes at a time when thousands of students are preparing for or awaiting NEET results, making them vulnerable to fraudulent offers. Police have urged families to stay informed and avoid taking hasty decisions under pressure.
