- Stock market closes with major gains on Wednesday
- Sensex and Nifty surge led by banking stocks
- Investor sentiment improves after positive global signals
Domestic stock markets witnessed a strong rally on Wednesday with benchmark indices ending the trading session on a highly positive note amid aggressive buying by investors across major sectors.
The upbeat mood remained visible throughout the day as both Sensex and Nifty continued their upward movement from the opening bell till market close. Analysts said strong support from banking and information technology stocks played a major role in driving the rally.
By the end of the session, the Sensex had jumped nearly 940 points, while the Nifty gained more than 298 points. The sharp rise helped both benchmark indices settle near important psychological levels, reflecting renewed investor confidence in the market.
The Sensex closed at 77,958 points while the Nifty finished trading at 24,330 points. Most sectoral indices ended in positive territory, indicating broad based participation in the market rally.
Market experts said favourable global cues also contributed to the strong performance of domestic equities. Positive trends in international markets and steady investor buying encouraged traders to maintain bullish positions throughout the session.
The rally also resulted in a sharp increase in overall investor wealth as the total market capitalisation of listed companies recorded significant growth during the trading day.
Financial analysts believe the current momentum could continue in the coming sessions if global market conditions remain stable and institutional buying sustains at current levels.
The impressive performance of banking and IT companies remained one of the key highlights of Wednesday’s trading, helping Indian equity markets close with one of their strongest sessions in recent weeks.
