Hyderabad Student Dies of Electrocution at IIT Patna Campus
A Hyderabad student studying at IIT Patna lost his life after suffering an electric shock while playing cricket inside the campus, leaving family members and fellow students devastated.

A tragic incident at Indian Institute of Technology Patna claimed the life of a student from Hyderabad after he was electrocuted while playing cricket on the campus grounds. The victim was identified as Harshith Raj, a resident of Chandanagar in Hyderabad.
According to officials, the incident occurred early in the morning when Harshith was playing cricket with others inside the campus. During the game, he reportedly came into accidental contact with an electric pole and suffered a severe electric shock before collapsing on the spot.
Campus authorities immediately shifted the student to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The sudden death has left students and faculty members in shock.
The information was first reported to city police by IIT Patna security in charge Deepak Kumar Chaurasia. Police officials later confirmed that the student lost consciousness after the electrocution incident during the cricket match.
Authorities informed the student’s parents and local police soon after the incident. Officials are also expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the accident and whether any safety lapses contributed to the tragedy.
The heartbreaking incident has once again raised concerns about electrical safety measures inside educational campuses and public play areas.
