CBI Arrests Key Accused in NEET UG 2026 Paper Leak Case

The investigation into the nationwide NEET UG 2026 paper leak case took a major turn after the Central Bureau of Investigation arrested a chemistry lecturer from Pune believed to be one of the key masterminds behind the scandal.

CBI officials confirmed that P V Kulkarni was taken into custody following detailed questioning. Investigators alleged that he used his role as a domain expert associated with the National Testing Agency to gain access to confidential examination material.

According to the agency, Kulkarni allegedly conducted private coaching sessions from his residence in Pune and shared chemistry questions with selected students before the examination. Officials believe large sums of money were collected in exchange for access to the leaked content.

The agency had earlier arrested a woman identified as Manisha, who is accused of helping Kulkarni identify and gather students for the coaching network. With the latest arrest, the total number of accused persons taken into custody in the case has reached eight.

The controversy had triggered outrage across the country after allegations surfaced that the NEET UG examination held on May 3 had been compromised. Following the allegations, the National Testing Agency cancelled the examination on May 12.

As part of the ongoing probe, the CBI has carried out searches at multiple locations across the country and seized important documents along with electronic devices connected to the case.

Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency announced that the cancelled NEET UG examination will be conducted again on June 21. The agency also clarified that admit cards for the fresh examination will be released on June 14.
