Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar received interim relief from the Hyderabad City Civil Court after it ordered the removal of online content connecting him to the POCSO case registered against his son.
The court instructed several digital platforms and media organisations to immediately delete news reports, videos and social media posts that mention or associate Bandi Sanjay with the ongoing case. It also made clear that his name should not be used in future coverage related to the matter.
Bandi Sanjay approached the court claiming that false and targeted campaigns were being carried out to damage his political image. In his petition, he named major platforms including Google, Meta and X along with several television channels as respondents.
After hearing the matter, the court issued interim directions asking all parties to take down the related content without delay. The judge also warned that failure to follow the order could result in contempt of court proceedings.
The court further observed that media outlets and social media platforms must exercise caution while reporting sensitive matters and avoid unnecessarily linking individuals who are not directly accused in the case.
