Friend Statements Become Crucial in Bandi Bhagirath POCSO Case

The investigation into the sensational Bandi Bhagirath POCSO case has entered a crucial stage as police continue collecting witness statements and digital evidence linked to the allegations. Officials believe testimonies from the accused’s close friends could play an important role in establishing the sequence of events mentioned in the complaint.

According to investigation sources, police have already recorded statements from nearly ten friends connected to the accused, including three young women. On Monday, two young men and a woman were reportedly questioned for nearly two hours at Pet Basheerabad Police Station before their statements were formally documented.

The investigation team is carefully examining incidents mentioned in the complaint filed by the victim’s mother. She alleged that her daughter was taken to an apartment in Nanakramguda on October twenty fifth last year and later to a farmhouse in Moinabad on December thirty first, where the alleged assaults took place under the influence of alcohol.

Police are now gathering CCTV footage and other technical evidence from the locations linked to the case. Investigators are also attempting to retrieve social media conversations after learning that the accused and the victim reportedly became acquainted through Instagram and Snapchat.

Officials confirmed that Bhagirath’s mobile phone has already been sent to a forensic laboratory for detailed analysis. Investigators are examining call records, WhatsApp chats, and other digital communication that may provide additional clarity regarding the allegations.

Meanwhile, the accused is currently lodged in Cherlapally Jail. Police are expected to file a petition seeking seven days of custody to question him further based on the evidence collected so far. Officials believe custodial interrogation could help uncover more details connected to the case.

The matter will now continue under the jurisdiction of the Malkajgiri POCSO Court. Considering the seriousness of the allegations, police are aiming to complete the investigation quickly and file a chargesheet at the earliest. The probe is being supervised by Kukatpally DCP Ritiraj.
