Weather conditions across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are changing rapidly as southwest monsoon winds continue to strengthen over southern India ahead of their expected arrival in Kerala later this month. The India Meteorological Department said rainfall activity has already increased in several southern states even before the official monsoon onset.

Moderate to heavy rains were reported in parts of the south during the last few days, leading to traffic congestion and waterlogging in several urban areas. Weather experts say such pre monsoon activity indicates stronger atmospheric developments across the region.

According to the IMD, southwest monsoon winds have already advanced into parts of the southeast Arabian Sea, the Comorin region, the Andaman Sea, and sections of the Bay of Bengal. Officials expect the system to spread further over the next three to four days toward the east central Bay of Bengal and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Meteorologists also identified upper air cyclonic circulations over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and nearby regions extending several kilometers above sea level. These weather systems are likely to support cloud formation and increase thunderstorm activity across Andhra Pradesh Karnataka Kerala Rayalaseema and Telangana.

The IMD forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder lightning and gusty winds in coastal Andhra Pradesh Yanam and Rayalaseema between May twenty and May twenty two. Wind speeds during thunderstorms may reach up to sixty kilometers per hour in isolated places.

Similar weather conditions are expected across Telangana where scattered evening showers and strong winds may affect Hyderabad and parts of south and central Telangana. Weather experts advised residents to remain cautious during evening hours because of lightning and sudden wind activity.

Satellite observations also showed large scale cloud circulation over Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Weather analysts expect humid conditions during the daytime followed by rainfall in selected regions during late afternoon and night hours.

North Telangana is likely to continue experiencing high temperatures between forty and forty two degrees Celsius while coastal Andhra Pradesh may witness intense heat during daytime despite rain chances later in the evening. Authorities warned fishermen against venturing into the sea because wind speeds over the Bay of Bengal remain high.

Experts believe increasing cloud formation near the equatorial region and changing oceanic conditions over the Pacific may further strengthen rain bearing systems in the coming weeks. Though rainfall may remain scattered for now, isolated heavy showers and damaging winds cannot be ruled out across the Telugu states.
