A successful climb to the world’s highest peak ended in tragedy after two Indian mountaineers lost their lives while descending Mount Everest in Nepal. The incident has brought sadness to the mountaineering community after what had initially been a moment of achievement.
Nepal tourism officials confirmed the deaths and identified the climbers as Arun Kumar Tiwari and Sandeep Aare. According to reports, both had successfully reached the summit before facing serious health complications during their descent.
Expedition authorities said the climbers reportedly developed severe exhaustion and experienced oxygen related difficulties while passing through the dangerous Death Zone area. Sherpas and rescue teams made repeated efforts to move them to safer locations and provide assistance, but the attempts were unsuccessful.
Sandeep Aare was part of a large group of 274 climbers who reached the summit on Wednesday. The expedition included other Indian climbers and also created a new record for the highest number of people reaching Everest on a single day.
Meanwhile, Arun Kumar Tiwari was climbing with another expedition team and had also completed his summit journey before encountering breathing difficulties and extreme weather conditions during his return.
Officials from the Indian Embassy are now coordinating with Nepal authorities regarding further procedures and communication with the families of the deceased climbers. The incident serves as another reminder of the extreme risks and unpredictable conditions associated with high altitude expeditions.
