PM Modi Warns Citizens Against Rising Digital Fraud Threats

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to stay alert against digital frauds, stressing caution over digital arrest scams KYC related calls and cyber tricks while protecting personal and financial information.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a strong warning to citizens as digital fraud cases continue to rise across the country. Speaking during the latest episode of Mann Ki Baat, he stressed that cyber crimes are becoming a serious challenge even as police and agencies work to contain them.

Modi said public awareness about digital fraud and so called digital arrest scams has improved, yet many innocent people are still falling victim. He described such crimes as unforgivable and expressed concern over how fraudsters exploit fear and confusion to trap people into financial losses.

Highlighting the importance of banking safety, the Prime Minister asked citizens to be extremely cautious about KYC processes. He explained that while banks periodically update Know Your Customer details to keep accounts secure, people must never respond to suspicious calls messages or links claiming to be from banks.

The Prime Minister warned that cyber criminals often misuse the KYC process by sending fake SMS messages emails and links. He advised people to avoid trusting such communications and instead verify details directly at bank branches or through official banking apps. He also reminded citizens to follow guidance issued by the Reserve Bank of India regarding secure banking practices.

Modi further urged people to change passwords regularly and avoid using the same password for long periods. He underlined that constant alertness is the strongest defence against cyber crime and warned that lack of caution could result in hard earned money falling into the hands of fraudsters.
