A devastating road accident in Markapuram district of Andhra Pradesh left several passengers trapped after a private travel bus collided with a tipper truck and burst into flames.

A tragic road accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Markapuram district has claimed at least ten lives after a private travel bus caught fire following a collision with a tipper truck. The incident occurred near the stone quarry area close to Rayavaram, where the two vehicles reportedly crashed head on. Within moments of the impact, flames engulfed the travel bus, turning the vehicle into a burning wreck before rescue teams could reach the spot.
Passengers inside the bus had little time to react as the fire spread rapidly. Police officials confirmed that several passengers were trapped inside the burning bus, leading to the tragic loss of ten lives. Authorities fear the death toll could increase as some of the injured passengers remain in critical condition.
Dozens of passengers were traveling in the bus
According to preliminary information, the private Harikrishna travel bus was traveling from Hyderabad toward Pamuru when the accident occurred. Nearly forty passengers were believed to be on board at the time of the crash. Investigators said the bus collided with a tipper truck that was transporting gravel from Chimakurthy.
While ten passengers died in the fire, at least twelve people managed to escape with minor injuries. Around twenty others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment. Police are still verifying the exact number of passengers who were inside the bus when the accident happened.
Rescue operation launched by police and fire teams
Local residents were among the first to reach the accident site and tried to help the injured passengers. Soon after receiving information about the accident, police and fire department teams rushed to the scene and attempted to control the fire. However, by the time the flames were brought under control, both the bus and the tipper truck had already been completely destroyed.
Many of the passengers involved in the accident are believed to be residents of the Kanigiri and Pamuru regions. Ambulances transported the injured victims to nearby hospitals as rescue teams continued relief operations. Police have registered a case and started a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
