Andhra Pradesh RTC Workers Get Health Cover Boost Under EHS Scheme
The Andhra Pradesh government has announced an enhanced EHS benefit for RTC employees, extending medical support for workers and families while opening talks on long pending pension demands.

- Andhra Pradesh RTC EHS cover doubled to four lakh rupees.
- Medical benefits extended to employees and family members.
- Pension issue to be discussed with the Chief Minister.
The Andhra Pradesh government has rolled out a major relief for state RTC employees by strengthening healthcare coverage under the Employees Health Scheme. The decision, announced in the Assembly, reflects a renewed focus on worker welfare and long term health security.
Speaking in the House, Transport Minister Ramprasad Reddy said the treatment limit for super speciality care under the EHS scheme has been doubled. Until now, RTC staff were eligible for medical treatment worth two lakh rupees. The government has now approved an additional two lakh rupees, raising the total cover to four lakh rupees for serious illnesses.
The move is expected to significantly ease the burden on workers facing critical health conditions. Employee unions and staff members have welcomed the decision, calling it a timely intervention that brings real financial relief during medical emergencies.
Healthcare access is not limited to employees alone. The minister clarified that family members of RTC staff will also continue to receive treatment under the EHS framework. Across the state, more than nineteen hundred dispensaries and empanelled hospitals are providing services, with nearly forty five thousand beneficiaries already covered.
Alongside healthcare reforms, the government has indicated progress on another long standing issue. The pension concerns of RTC workers will be taken up with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, with assurances that a fair solution will be explored. Pension security has remained a core demand for years, especially among retired employees.
Officials believe these steps will strengthen trust between the government and the workforce, while reinforcing Andhra Pradesh RTC as a more secure and employee friendly public institution.
