Biryani Laced With Sleeping Pills Leads to Husband’s Murder in Guntur

A disturbing murder case has come to light in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district, where a woman allegedly killed her husband with the help of her lover and tried to pass it off as a natural death.
Investigators said the accused woman had been in an illicit relationship with another man for some time. Seeing her husband as an obstacle to their relationship, the two reportedly planned his murder together. As part of the plan, she prepared biryani for her husband and secretly mixed powdered sleeping pills into the food.
After he ate the meal and slipped into deep sleep, the woman allegedly called her lover to the house. The two then placed a pillow over the victim’s face and suffocated him until he stopped breathing. The incident took place in Chiluvuru village of Guntur district.
Initially, the woman told neighbours and relatives that her husband had died due to a heart attack. In the early hours of the morning, she informed people nearby about his sudden death, attempting to maintain the story of a natural cause.
Suspicion arose when the victim’s father and friends noticed injuries and blood marks on the body. They approached the local police, who registered a case and began an investigation. A postmortem examination later confirmed that the man had died due to suffocation.
The deceased was identified as Lokam Shivanagaraju. Police arrested his wife Lakshmi Madhuri and her lover Gopi in connection with the crime. During the forensic examination of Madhuri’s mobile phone, investigators uncovered crucial evidence related to the case.
During questioning, police revealed that Madhuri had spent the night near her husband’s body watching explicit videos on her phone. Faced with the evidence, she confessed to the crime and admitted that she and Gopi had jointly planned and carried out the murder.
