Kurnool Road Accident Leaves Eight Dead and Several Injured Near Mantralayam
A devastating road accident in Kurnool district killed eight devotees and injured thirteen others as rescue teams rushed victims to hospital and leaders expressed grief.

A tragic road accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district claimed eight lives and left 13 others injured in the early hours of Thursday, casting a shadow over a pilgrimage journey to Mantralayam.
The accident took place near Chilakaladona in Mantralayam mandal when a Bolero vehicle collided with a ready mix lorry. The impact was severe, killing five people on the spot. Three more victims later died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Emmiganur.
The victims were devotees from Chikkamagaluru in Karnataka who were travelling to seek the blessings of Sri Raghavendra Swamy at Mantralayam. The deceased were identified as Kumar, Deepika, Veena, Sunil, Belli, Puttamma, Meenakshi, Tayamma and Lolakshi. Among those who died were five women and a young girl.
Police teams reached the accident site soon after the crash and began rescue operations. The injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment, where doctors are continuing to monitor their condition.
The incident drew condolences from top leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of those who died.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also expressed shock over the accident and directed officials to ensure the injured receive proper medical care. He conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families.
Ministers Bharat and Janardhan Reddy also mourned the incident, as grief spread among the victims’ families and local communities. The accident once again highlights the devastating human cost of road mishaps and the pain they leave behind.
