Midnight Gunfire Creates Tension Near Railway Track In Guntur

Tension gripped parts of Guntur district during the early hours of Tuesday after police opened warning fire while attempting to stop a group of suspicious persons near the Aluru railway gate in Ponnur mandal.

According to preliminary information, police personnel on night patrol noticed a few individuals moving suspiciously along the railway track around 3 am. Officers reportedly suspected that the group might have been planning a major theft or illegal activity by taking advantage of the darkness.

When the police tried to surround and question them, the suspects allegedly attempted to escape from the spot. During the chase, the group reportedly attacked the police team by throwing stones.

Officials said the suspects were carrying cutters and other sharp weapons, which raised further suspicion during the operation. The sudden attack created a tense situation and forced the police to respond immediately to bring the situation under control.

To disperse the group and prevent escalation, police fired nearly 10 rounds into the air as warning shots. Following the incident, additional police forces reached the area and intensified searches around the railway track surroundings.

Authorities are continuing the investigation to identify the suspects and determine the exact motive behind their movements near the railway line. More details about the incident are expected to emerge after the police complete their inquiry.
