A vibrant sporting atmosphere marked the inauguration of the Nara Ramamurthy Naidu Sports Center in Chandragiri, as Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh officially opened the facility on Wednesday.
The center, built in memory of Nara Ramamurthy Naidu, has been developed at the Government Boys High School premises where Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu once studied. Constructed at a cost of over three crore rupees, the facility is designed to nurture young talent and host competitive sporting events.
During the inauguration, Lokesh interacted with students and athletes, playing badminton and other games alongside them. Renowned players PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth were also present, adding excitement to the event as they joined in friendly matches.
The sports center includes a multi purpose indoor stadium equipped with facilities for badminton table tennis carrom chess yoga gym and other activities. Outdoor infrastructure has also been developed with courts for volleyball kabaddi kho kho ball badminton and a dedicated hockey field.
Officials stated that the center will serve as a key platform for training and developing young athletes from Chandragiri and nearby areas. It is also expected to host national level competitions in the future.
The project was originally sanctioned in 2017 but faced delays in completion. With renewed focus from the current administration, the works were completed and the facility has now been made available to aspiring sportspersons.
The event witnessed the presence of several public representatives sports officials and athletes who highlighted the importance of such infrastructure in promoting sports culture and encouraging youth participation across the region.
