Srisailam Gears Up for Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsavams from February 8

Eleven day Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsavams at Srisailam temple will witness elaborate rituals special darshan rules and stepped up arrangements as officials expect a significant rise in pilgrim turnout this year

The sacred town of Srisailam Temple is set to host the grand Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsavams from February 8 to February 18 with temple authorities finalising extensive arrangements for the eleven day celebrations.

Officials announced that the annual festival at the Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy shrine is likely to draw nearly thirty percent more devotees compared to last year. In view of the expected surge temple departments have been instructed to work in close coordination to ensure smooth darshan and crowd movement without inconvenience to pilgrims.

The Brahmotsavams will formally begin on February 8 with the ceremonial entry of the deity into the Yagasala. From February 9 onwards devotees will witness a series of traditional vahana sevas and village processions featuring Lord Mallikarjuna along with Goddess Bhramaramba. On February 12 the state government will present silk garments to the deities as part of the official offerings.

As part of festival regulations only alankara darshan will be permitted for general devotees until February 18. However Shiva Deeksha devotees will be allowed sparsha darshan at designated times up to February 12 providing them a special opportunity during the sacred period.

To cater to devotees temple authorities have arranged the availability of nearly forty lakh laddus. Free laddu distribution will be offered from February 13 to February 16 while vehicles will be allowed to pass without toll charges on February 15 and 16 easing travel during peak pilgrimage days.
