The Andhra Pradesh government has taken a key step toward strengthening women led enterprises with the finalisation of Swayam as the brand name for products made by DWCRA self help groups. The decision reflects a renewed focus on giving rural women better visibility in competitive markets.
During a review meeting at the Secretariat, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu examined multiple branding proposals prepared by officials. While reviewing logo designs, he suggested that the voices of DWCRA women should play a decisive role before the final logo is approved.
Naidu underlined that the success of self help group products depends not only on quality but also on how effectively they are presented to consumers. He noted that DWCRA women are already producing goods that meet high standards, and it is the government’s duty to support them with strong branding and marketing strategies.
The Chief Minister said the name Swayam captures the spirit of self reliance and collective effort represented by women self help groups. He added that an appealing and easy to understand brand identity would help these products move beyond local markets and reach national and international platforms.
Officials were told that branding should clearly communicate the women led nature of these enterprises. According to Naidu, better visibility will translate into stronger market presence and improved income opportunities for thousands of women associated with DWCRA groups.
Minister Kondapalli Srinivas and senior officials from the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty department attended the meeting, as the government moves ahead with plans to position Swayam as a flagship brand for women entrepreneurs in the state.
