The long running controversy surrounding the Tirumala laddu has returned to the spotlight following the submission of the final charge sheet by the CBI SIT. The report has triggered renewed debate across political and religious circles.
Speaking to the media, TTD chairman BR Naidu stated that the charge sheet clearly indicates the use of adulterated ghee in the preparation of the sacred laddu. He dismissed claims of a clean chit as misleading and said devotees were being confused with false narratives.
According to BR Naidu, the SIT findings point to serious violations in the ghee procurement process. He alleged that tender rules were altered to benefit select suppliers and contracts were awarded to firms lacking basic production capacity.
He further claimed that nearly sixty lakh kilograms of adulterated ghee worth around two hundred fifty crore rupees were purchased during the period. Reports from NDDB testing, he said, indicated the presence of animal fat and hazardous chemical substances used during production.
The TTD chairman expressed concern that such practices damaged the spiritual sanctity of Tirumala. He alleged that crores of laddus were prepared using the disputed ghee, calling it a grave blow to the faith of devotees.
BR Naidu also demanded deeper investigation into financial transactions linked to the case. He urged the SIT to examine large money transfers, identify possible benami networks and conduct advanced micro DNA tests to establish the final truth on ghee quality.
He maintained that the issue surfaced only after the present coalition government took charge and reiterated that protecting the purity of Tirumala traditions would remain a top priority, with no compromise on accountability.
