  • 15 days free toll on new highway
  • Telangana Andhra Pradesh travel time reduced

A major boost to inter state connectivity, the newly built Greenfield Expressway between Khammam and Devarapalli has been opened for traffic, significantly improving travel between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Authorities confirmed that commuters can use the highway free of cost for the first 15 days before toll collection begins.

The highway is already witnessing a steady rise in vehicle movement. Officials have installed clear signboards at key junctions such as Wyra and VM Banjar to ensure smooth navigation and avoid confusion among drivers entering or exiting the route.

Designed as a modern access controlled corridor, the expressway currently operates with four lanes but has been planned for future expansion to six lanes. Safety measures include continuous barricading, entry and exit points at regular intervals, and emergency openings along the median for quick access.

Infrastructure on the route is robust, featuring multiple bridges, culverts, and underpasses. Advanced surveillance systems with AI enabled cameras have been installed to monitor traffic, while emergency assistance is available through a dedicated helpline.

The new corridor is expected to bring strong economic benefits to the Khammam region. Areas like Tallampadu are likely to see growth in logistics, warehousing, and food processing industries, creating new opportunities for local businesses and farmers.

With reduced congestion and improved road quality, travel time between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam is expected to drop significantly. The distance will be shorter by around 80 kilometers, saving nearly two hours for commuters.

Officials indicated that a formal inauguration of the expressway will take place soon, but for now, travelers can already experience faster and more efficient journeys across the two Telugu states.
