Telangana government has announced a major healthcare initiative focusing on women health to mark International Womens Day Telangana celebrations. The programme will begin on March 8 and aims to improve preventive healthcare for women across the state.

Under the International Womens Day Telangana initiative the government plans to prepare detailed health profiles for women who are members of self help groups. The programme will cover nearly forty six lakh women and will be carried out in multiple phases over the coming months.

Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha reviewed the preparations at the Secretariat and directed officials to ensure smooth implementation of the programme without affecting routine medical services in hospitals. The initiative is part of the broader public governance and development action plan being implemented in the state.

Each participating woman will undergo nearly thirty different medical tests with support from Telangana Diagnostics. The first phase will begin in selected mandals across districts and later expand to additional mandals before covering the entire state.

During the early stage of the International Womens Day Telangana health drive special attention will be given to maternal health child care adolescent girls and elderly citizens. Authorities will also conduct anemia screening and health checkups for children in schools and anganwadi centers.

In the next phase officials will focus on identifying non communicable diseases such as blood pressure diabetes and cancer through large screening camps at sub centers. District day care cancer centers will also expand chemotherapy services while dialysis patients will undergo mandatory viral infection testing.

Another phase of the programme will strengthen preparedness against communicable diseases. Health workers will intensify screening for tuberculosis and spread awareness about seasonal illnesses such as dengue malaria and heat related conditions during summer months.

The final stage will concentrate on improving healthcare services in urban areas. Several urban primary health centers will be upgraded into polyclinics offering specialised services while mobile medical units will conduct health camps in urban settlements to provide care to economically weaker communities.

Officials believe the International Womens Day Telangana initiative will significantly improve early disease detection and promote preventive healthcare among women while strengthening the public health system across the state.
