- Telangana municipal election results counting begins at 136 centres
- 20000 staff deployed with tight security and webcasting
- Congress BRS and BJP await results amid high voter turnout
The stage is set for the declaration of Telangana municipal election results, with vote counting scheduled to begin from 8 am across the state. The State Election Commission has completed all preparations to ensure a smooth and transparent counting process.
A total of 136 counting centres have been established statewide, covering 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations. Around 20000 trained personnel have been deployed exclusively for the counting exercise. Officials said all staff have undergone special training in ballot paper counting to avoid errors and delays.
Counting will begin with postal ballots, followed by ward wise counting of ballot boxes. Each counting table will allow one authorised counting agent from every contesting candidate. The entire process will remain under continuous CCTV surveillance, with live webcasting arranged outside counting halls and strong rooms to maintain transparency.
Officials expect the first round of results by noon, as each ward has around 800 to 1000 votes. Full results for all municipalities and corporations are likely to be declared by evening. To prevent disturbances, Section 163 has been imposed around counting centres, and entry is restricted within a 100 metre radius. Police have also imposed limits on victory rallies.
As an additional precaution, wine shops will remain closed today in all areas where counting is underway.
The results are being keenly watched as Congress, BRS and BJP have all mounted aggressive campaigns, fielding strong candidates and deploying senior leaders as in charges. With voter turnout higher than in previous municipal polls, all parties believe the increased participation could work in their favour.
Who ultimately gains the edge will become clear in the next few hours as the Telangana municipal election results unfold.
