Polling for the Telangana Municipal Elections officially concluded at 5 pm across 116 municipalities and 7 municipal corporations. The State Election Commission allowed voters who were already in queue by the deadline to cast their ballots, ensuring that no eligible voter was turned away.
Across districts including Adilabad, Nirmal, Bhainsa, Khanapur, Asifabad and Kagaznagar, polling came to a close peacefully with officials managing queues till the last voter exercised the right to vote. In parts of Mahabubnagar district, police locked polling station gates after 5 pm, permitting only those inside the premises to complete voting.
Counting of votes for the Telangana Municipal Elections is scheduled to begin at 8 am on February 13. Security arrangements are being tightened at counting centres as authorities prepare for the next crucial phase of the electoral process.
The elections witnessed high political activity over the past week. Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, addressed multiple public meetings and urged voters to support the party based on its development and welfare agenda. Ministers and senior leaders took charge of municipalities within their assigned parliamentary segments and coordinated local campaigns.
The BJP also mounted an aggressive campaign, with Union ministers and senior national leaders participating in rallies and outreach programmes. State leaders conducted extensive tours, projecting confidence about their prospects in the Telangana Municipal Elections.
Meanwhile, the BRS leadership mobilised its cadre at the constituency level. Senior party figures campaigned actively for their candidates, focusing on strengthening their urban presence.
With polling now over, attention has shifted to the counting day. Political parties remain optimistic, each claiming that their campaign strategy and booth level management will translate into victory in the Telangana Municipal Elections.
