Tollywood witnessed another moment of grief with the passing of actress Jaya Vahini, who had carved a niche for herself through impactful performances in films and television. She breathed her last on Wednesday at her native place Vizianagaram after battling cancer for a long time.

The news was confirmed by fellow actress Karate Kalyani, who shared an emotional message on social media expressing her deep sense of loss. She wrote about efforts made to save Vahini and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, calling her departure deeply painful.

Born as Vasavi in 1978 in Vizianagaram, she adopted the screen name Jaya Vahini and gradually gained recognition in the entertainment industry. Starting her career with smaller roles, she went on to act in several Telugu and Tamil films, earning appreciation for her natural screen presence.

While cinema brought her visibility, television serials helped her connect closely with audiences. Her ability to portray intense and negative shaded characters made her performances stand out, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.

Jaya Vahini was last seen in the film Bahirbhoomi, while her role alongside V K Naresh in the 2019 film Raghupati Venkaiah Naidu is remembered as one of her notable performances. Due to declining health, she had stepped away from acting in recent years.

As her condition worsened, doctors advised that she be taken home, following which her family shifted her to Vizianagaram.
