Jio Introduces Monthly Plan Ending 28 Day Recharge Cycle for Millions of Users
Reliance Jio launches a new prepaid plan with full calendar month validity offering daily data calling benefits and digital perks while addressing long standing concerns about 28 day recharge cycles

In a move that could reshape how prepaid users manage their mobile expenses, Reliance Jio has introduced a new plan designed to eliminate the long criticized 28 day recharge cycle. The latest offering, priced at 339 rupees, comes with a full calendar month validity, a change that directly addresses a key concern raised by millions of subscribers.
For years, users have pointed out that 28 day plans effectively force them to recharge 13 times a year instead of 12, increasing their annual spending. The issue had also drawn attention from Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, which encouraged telecom companies to consider calendar based plans. With this new launch, Jio appears to be responding to both customer feedback and regulatory guidance.
The biggest highlight of the 339 rupee plan is its billing structure. Instead of expiring after 28 days, the plan remains active for an entire month based on the recharge date. For example, a recharge made on April five will stay valid until May five, regardless of whether the month has 30 or 31 days. This simple shift removes the need for an extra recharge over the course of a year, offering direct savings to users.
In terms of benefits, the plan includes 1.5GB of data per day, along with unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS daily. These features are aimed at users who rely on their phones for regular browsing, streaming, and communication without needing extremely high data limits.
The company has also bundled additional digital perks to enhance the overall value. Subscribers gain access to premium tools and services, including cloud storage and advanced AI features through Google Gemini Pro, making the plan more than just a standard recharge option.
However, the plan does come with certain trade offs. When compared to the existing 349 rupee option, the new plan offers slightly lower daily data and does not include unlimited 5G access for eligible users. The 349 rupee plan, despite its shorter validity, may still appeal to heavy data users who prioritize higher consumption and faster connectivity.
The introduction of this calendar based plan signals a shift in the telecom industry, where pricing transparency and customer convenience are becoming increasingly important. For moderate users looking to simplify their recharge routine and reduce yearly costs, the new offering could prove to be a practical alternative.
