Redmi A7 Pro 5G Set for April Debut with Big Battery and AI Features at Budget Price
New Redmi smartphone aims to disrupt budget segment with large display, advanced AI tools, dual camera setup and massive battery while keeping expected price below ten thousand rupees in India

The budget smartphone segment in India is about to see a fresh entrant as Redmi prepares to launch its new A series device, the Redmi A7 Pro 5G, on April 13. The company has already revealed several key features ahead of the official unveiling, building anticipation among price sensitive buyers.
Unlike typical entry level devices, this upcoming model is being positioned as a blend of power and style. It marks the first time Redmi is introducing a Pro variant in its A series lineup, which has traditionally focused on affordability. With this move, the brand appears to be targeting users who want more features without moving into mid range pricing.
One of the biggest talking points is the battery. The device is expected to pack a 6300mAh unit, a capacity rarely seen in this price category. For everyday users, this could translate into one to two days of usage on a single charge, reducing the need to frequently plug in the device.
On the software front, the phone is said to run on Android 16 based HyperOS 3, bringing a refreshed interface along with improved security and smoother performance. The company is also highlighting a range of artificial intelligence features, including Google Circle to Search and an integrated Gemini voice assistant, aimed at simplifying daily tasks.
Display size is another area where the phone tries to stand out. It is expected to feature a large 6.9 inch screen, catering to users who consume a lot of video content or prefer bigger displays for browsing and social media. The performance will be handled by an octa core 5G processor, which should be sufficient for routine activities like streaming, messaging and light gaming.
In terms of photography, the handset is likely to offer a dual rear camera setup led by a 32 megapixel sensor. While not designed for professional photography, it is expected to deliver decent results for casual users and social media sharing. The front camera will sit inside a waterdrop notch, maintaining a familiar design language seen in budget devices.
Design wise, Redmi is opting for a flat frame with a pill shaped rear camera module, giving the phone a slightly modern look despite its low price positioning. The LED flash is placed outside the module, adding a subtle visual distinction.
Reports suggest that the device could be priced under Rs 10000, making it one of the more feature packed options in the entry level 5G category. If priced aggressively, it could appeal strongly to students and first time smartphone buyers looking to upgrade to 5G without overspending.
For context, the 4G version of the same model was recently introduced in global markets with slightly toned down specifications, including a smaller battery and lower resolution camera setup. The 5G variant launching in India is expected to offer noticeable improvements, particularly in battery life and imaging.
With competition heating up in the budget segment, Redmi’s latest offering appears aimed at striking a balance between affordability and meaningful upgrades. All eyes will now be on the official launch to see whether the device delivers on its promise and how it performs against rivals in the same price bracket.
