Samsung Expands One UI 8.5 Update List for Older Galaxy Devices
Samsung has confirmed One UI 8.5 support for several older Galaxy smartphones and tablets as the company prepares a wider global rollout across multiple regions including India this month.

Samsung users waiting for the next major software upgrade finally have a reason to celebrate. The company has now expanded the list of Galaxy devices eligible for the One UI 8.5 update, bringing several older smartphones and tablets into the rollout plan.
The latest announcement comes just days after Samsung began the initial rollout of One UI 8.5 in South Korea. While the first phase mainly focused on premium flagship devices, the company has now confirmed support for many additional Galaxy models, including older S series phones, foldables, tablets and popular mid range A series devices.
According to recent reports, Samsung plans to begin the wider global rollout from May 11. Markets expected to receive the update include India Europe North America Southeast Asia Hong Kong Taiwan and parts of Latin America. The rollout will happen in batches, meaning users may receive the update at different times depending on region and device model.
Among the newly confirmed devices are the Galaxy S23 Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Samsung has also included its foldable lineup such as the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. These models continue to remain popular among users and the software support extension is being seen as a positive move by the company.
Tablet users are also getting good news. The Galaxy Tab S9 series including the Tab S9 Plus and Tab S9 Ultra will receive the new interface update. Samsung appears to be focusing heavily on improving the experience across phones and tablets together as ecosystem integration becomes more important for consumers.
A large part of the excitement is centered around the Galaxy A series. Samsung has confirmed One UI 8.5 support for multiple affordable and mid range devices including the Galaxy A15 A16 A17 A25 A26 A34 A35 A36 A54 A55 and A56. This move is expected to benefit millions of users who rely on Samsungs budget friendly lineup.
Earlier, Samsung had already announced One UI 8.5 support for its latest flagship models such as the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Tab S11 lineup. With the addition of older models, the company is now extending the updates reach much further than expected.
Industry analysts believe Samsungs long term software support strategy is helping the brand maintain strong customer loyalty. Many Android smartphone makers still struggle to provide timely updates for older devices, while Samsung has steadily improved its update policy over the past few years.
Although Samsung has not yet shared an exact release schedule for each model, experts expect premium devices to receive the update first, followed by mid range and budget smartphones in the coming weeks.
Users who want to check manually for the update can do so through the phones settings menu. By opening Software Update and selecting Download and Install, users can verify whether the latest version has arrived for their device.
The One UI 8.5 rollout is expected to continue gradually throughout the month, and many Samsung customers are already eagerly waiting to experience the new features and improvements on their older Galaxy devices.
