Karimnagar police have cracked the sensational PMJ jewellery robbery case and revealed shocking details about a criminal gang that allegedly used a specially designed mobile application to organize and execute the massive heist.

Police officials said the gang carefully planned every stage of the robbery through the app, including travel routes, meeting locations, escape paths, and coordination between members during the operation.

The robbery was reportedly carried out under the supervision of an interstate criminal network known as The Golden Thief gang. Investigators identified Bihar based criminal Subodh Singh as the alleged mastermind behind the operation. Though currently lodged in a Bihar jail in connection with multiple cases, police believe he continued directing the robbery plot from prison.

During his time in jail, Subodh Singh reportedly became acquainted with West Bengal native Raghunath Karmakar alias Jagir Singh, who later emerged as the key accused in the Karimnagar robbery case.

Police said the gang spent nearly six months conducting reconnaissance across several locations including Nizamabad, Siddipet, Dharmapuri, Mancherial, Khammam, and Jagtial before finally targeting the PMJ jewellery store in Karimnagar.

According to investigators, five gang members arrived in Karimnagar on May 3 carrying six country made firearms. One accused first entered the jewellery store pretending to be a customer and shared information with the others waiting outside.

Soon afterward, the remaining members stormed into the shop, threatened employees at gunpoint, and escaped with gold ornaments weighing more than one hundred sixty one tolas along with diamond jewellery valued at around eighty two lakh rupees.

Police revealed that the gang relied entirely on the specially developed app for communication and navigation. The app reportedly stored detailed instructions about routes, escape plans, and designated meeting points after the robbery.

Following the crime, the gang travelled through several routes including Ramagundam, Gollapalli, and Dharmapuri before abandoning vehicles, mobile phones, and other materials to avoid detection.

Investigators tracked digital evidence recovered from mobile devices and coordinated with police departments across nine states. Authorities first arrested main accused Raghunath Karmakar in Bihar. Based on his interrogation, police identified several other accused linked to the robbery.

Two accused including Ravish Kumar alias Pradyuman and a SIM card supplier named Radhe alias Abhay were later arrested in West Bengal. Police suspect at least thirteen individuals provided assistance to the gang during different stages of the operation.

Officials also stated that the stolen jewellery was handed over to middlemen and transported to other states. Preliminary information suggests that part of the gold may have been sold in Nepal.

Police seized cash, fake Aadhaar cards, mobile phones, and SIM cards from the arrested suspects. Karimnagar Commissioner of Police Ghaus Alam said further investigation is underway and Subodh Singh will be questioned soon regarding his alleged role in planning the robbery network from jail.
