Bandi Bhagirath, who is facing allegations in a POCSO case related to the alleged harassment of a 17 year old girl, surrendered before the police on Saturday evening in Hyderabad. Sources said he appeared before investigators in the presence of his family members and legal representatives.
The development came shortly after the Telangana High Court refused to grant anticipatory bail, leaving him without immediate legal protection. With legal options narrowing, pressure reportedly mounted on Bhagirath to cooperate with the investigation.
Telangana police have been treating the case with high priority and accelerated the probe over the past few days. Officials also issued a lookout notice on Saturday evening to prevent him from leaving the country as part of the ongoing investigation.
According to reports, Bhagirath decided to surrender after consulting his lawyers as the police tightened surveillance and legal action in the case continued to intensify.
