The National Medical Commission has approved an increase in super specialty medical seats across the country, bringing significant relief to aspiring doctors in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The decision is expected to strengthen advanced medical education and specialist availability at the state level.

Under the revised allocation, Telangana has received a total of 60 additional super specialty seats. Of these, 36 seats have been allotted to government medical colleges, while 24 seats have gone to private institutions. Medical education officials believe this will significantly improve access to advanced training within the state.

Similarly, Andhra Pradesh has been allotted 21 new seats. Government colleges will get 14 seats and private colleges 7 seats, helping expand specialist education opportunities for students closer to home.

With the increase, more doctors specialising in neurology oncology nephrology and other critical fields will be trained within these states. Medical experts say this will reduce the need for students to migrate to other states and will strengthen healthcare services locally.

The move is also expected to address the growing demand for super specialty doctors and improve patient care outcomes by ensuring a steady supply of trained specialists in regional hospitals.
