Pakistan has reportedly carried out a successful test of its Fatah 4 cruise missile, a weapon said to be capable of targeting several major Indian cities including the national capital region. Reports from Pakistani media claimed that the missile was developed by the Pakistan Army Rocket Force Command as a competitor to India’s BrahMos missile system.
One of the key features highlighted by Pakistani military officials is the missile’s ability to fly at extremely low altitudes. This allows it to avoid enemy radar systems while moving toward its target. Officials also stated that the missile is equipped with advanced avionics and navigation technology designed to improve strike precision over long distances.
According to available details, the Fatah 4 missile is believed to have a strike range of nearly 750 kilometres and can carry a warhead weighing around 330 kilograms. Security analysts say this range places several Indian cities within potential reach if launched from areas near the India Pakistan border.
The reported missile range has triggered concern because cities such as Delhi and the NCR region could fall within its operational coverage from launch points near Lahore or Sialkot. Apart from the capital region, parts of Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Rajasthan and major Uttar Pradesh cities like Lucknow and Agra are also believed to be within range.
India already possesses advanced defence systems including the S 400 air defence shield to counter aerial threats. However, defence experts believe repeated missile tests and military demonstrations from Pakistan could further increase tensions along the border region.
