The POCSO case registered against Bhagirath, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has triggered intense political discussion in Telangana. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reacted strongly to the issue and instructed senior police officials to ensure a detailed and unbiased investigation.
During a high level review meeting, the Chief Minister questioned police authorities over the delay in initiating action despite receiving a complaint from the victim’s mother on May 8. He reportedly asked Director General of Police CV Anand to explain why immediate steps were not taken in such a sensitive matter.
Revanth Reddy made it clear that no individual is above the law and said negligence in cases involving minors would not be tolerated. He instructed officials to treat the matter with utmost seriousness and ensure justice for the victim without any external influence.
In response, the DGP informed the Chief Minister that police personnel had been heavily engaged in arrangements related to the Prime Minister’s recent visit, which led to some delay in the preliminary inquiry. Officials clarified that a formal case has now been registered and evidence collection is currently underway.
Sources said the Chief Minister also ordered the formation of special investigation teams to speed up the inquiry process. He directed officials to gather field level evidence quickly and submit a detailed report at the earliest.
The government reportedly emphasised that the investigation should continue without yielding to political pressure and that transparency must be maintained throughout the process. The case has now become a major topic of debate across political and public circles in Telangana.
