The centenary celebrations of Andhra University were held on a grand scale, drawing prominent leaders and academicians to mark the historic milestone. Among those present were former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Governor Justice Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Minister Lokesh, and other distinguished guests, reflecting the importance of the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Venkaiah Naidu stressed that students must equip themselves with skills suited to changing times. He called on universities to evolve into strong research hubs and encouraged studies that prioritize environmental sustainability. Highlighting the role of youth in shaping the nation’s future, he advised young people to adopt a disciplined and healthy lifestyle.
Naidu also underscored the importance of cultural and moral values. He urged students to respect their mother, motherland, teachers, and mother tongue, noting that language remains a guiding light for society. He added that sincere effort in work one truly enjoys will always yield meaningful results.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, speaking at the event, recalled the efforts of visionaries who contributed to establishing Andhra University. He praised the institution’s early leadership, noting that its first Vice Chancellor laid a strong foundation, while its second Vice Chancellor went on to become President of India. He further highlighted that students from 58 countries are currently studying at the university, showcasing its global reach.
The celebrations not only honored the university’s rich legacy but also emphasized its continued contribution to education, research, and the promotion of the Telugu language.
