Kharge calls Karnataka Cong leaders’ meet ahead of assembly polls

Bengaluru, Dec 11 : In the event of upcoming assembly elections next year in the state, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has convened a meeting of the top Karnataka Congress leaders in Delhi on Monday. As many as 14 Karnataka Congress leaders including Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar will attend the brainstorming meeting at the AICC office in the Capital city.
Deliberations on election preparations, candidate selection and tour travels among other decisions will be taken in the meeting.In all likelihood, Kharge is expected to urge Karnataka Congress leaders to put a united front in the elections amod the ongoing factional fighting between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar.Siddaramaiah, who is also Leader of Opposition in state assembly and former chief minister, will fly to Delhi tomorrow, according to a statement from his office. Addressing party workers at Kalaburagi on Saturday, Kharge had said. that the high command would decide on the chief minister and ministers’ names if the party came to power.
