CM Bommai to discuss issues including cabinet revamp with BJP leadership

Date:

Belagavi, Dec 26 :Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday left for New Delhi to discuss several pending issues including cabinet revamp.“The BJP National President JP Nadda has called a meeting again in which Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several party leaders will attend. All issues including preparation for the coming Assembly polls, Cabinet expansion, and filling up of vacant ministers posts, will come up for discussion,” he told reporters.
The visit comes in the wake of former ministers KS Eshwarappa and Ramesh Jarkiholi having abstained from attending the ongoing winter session of the state legislature as a silent protest for the delay in reinducting them in Bommai’s cabinet. But after CM’s assurance, both attended the winter session. They had resigned over the issues of corruption and sex scandal.Eshwarappa had resigned as RDPR minister after contractor Santosh Patil accused him of corruption. Patil was found dead in a lodge in Udupi city in April. The deceased also had written a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that Eshwarappa had not cleared outstanding bills due to him. He also urged Modi to direct Eshwarappa to settle his bills. Eshwarappa was given a clean chit after the Udupi Town Police filed a B-report in the case at the People’s Representatives Court in Bengaluru after they did not find any evidence against him to file a chargesheet and seek his trial. There are several aspirants eyeing for a cabinet berth including political secretary to the CM MP Renukacharya, and Basanagouda Patil Yatnal. As of now, there are six vacancies in the Bommai cabinet. CM said he will also meet union ministers with regard to development projects of the state. An appointment with Jal Shakti minister also has been sought to discuss several important water projects.
