President Droupadi Murmu visits Ramappa temple

Mulugu: President Droupadi Murmu has visited the Ramappa temple at Palampet village of Venkatapur mandal in the district on Wednesday. Accompanied by her family members, Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and union Tourism and Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy and others offered special prayers to the presiding deity Lord Rudreshwara. Later, she laid foundation for the development works proposed under the ‘Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual Augmentation Drive’ (PRASAD) scheme, and also performed ‘Bhoomi Pooja’ for the reconstruction of Kameshwara temple at the UNESCO World Heritage site. The reconstruction of this Kakatiyan era temple is said to have taken up as a part of the development works following the recognition by the UNESCO. The PRASAD scheme was launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the Ministry of Tourism in 2014-15 with the vision of focused integrated infrastructure development to harness pilgrimage and heritage tourism destinations for its direct and multiplier effect upon employment generation and economic developmentPanchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud, local MLA Danasari Anasuya aka Seetakka, MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Telangana State Water Resources Development Corporation Chairman V Prakash Rao, former MP A Seetaram Naik, District Collector S Krishna Aditya, SP Sangram Singh Patil, ITDA PO Ankit, and other district officials were present during the President’s visit. The classical as well as tribal dance performances conducted during the President’s visit enthralled the audience.
Meanwhile, some BJP leaders have protested for not allowing them to meet the President despite having a prior appointment.
