The State government will establish a development corporation in the name of the Medar community seer and extend all the cooperation to the profession which is dependent on the bamboo, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking after inaugurating Akhila Bharath, Akhila Karnataka Medar Tribe Community mammoth conference here on Saturday, he said the development corporation must bring new technologies and impart training. The new cane product manufacturing centres must be established in every district and link it with marketing. The cane products of Karntaka must reach international level through online marketing. The government will provide investment for the same.

The CM said the government will release funds for the development of the community mutt and also celebrate the jayanti celebrations of Medara guru on behalf of the government. The community bhavans will be constructed in those districts where the media community people are more in number. A suitable decision will be taken regarding the payment of GST.
To reserve land for bamboo cultivation
He said the bamboo works has undergone a lot of changes and its usage has also changes in China and Japan. The cane furniture and daily useable items have international market but the required quantity of bamboo must be made available for them. When the forest cover was 33 per cent in Karnataka, the bamboo plantation was in plenty and they need to start growing it. The government has reserved land specially for the bamboo cultivation through the Forest Department and supplying it to the artisans . Quota will be fixed for the cane workers at the most affordable price. The government will take steps for the protection of the samadhi of Keteshwara in Bidar. “We have addressed the problems of the Bhovi community and legal issues pertaining to working on the stone by that community people will be addressed in the next session.
