City cops nab fake inter-state gem dealer; recover 64 carats and Rs 18 L cash

Hyderabad: The City police on Friday arrested an interstate illegal diamonds trader, Mohd Rahila, on a complaint from a Surat-based businessman, Vivek Jathin, and recovered 64-carat diamonds and Rs 18 lakh cash from his possession. According to police, 31-year-old Rahila is claimed to gemstone businessman and a native of the Chikkaballapur district in neighboring Karnataka. He also has another criminal record which includes illegal sand transportation. The Afzalgunj police apprehended the interstate ‘attention diversion offender’ (diamonds exchange) on a complaint. The police further stated that on Friday the complainant’s brother came to Ambika Lodge and met the accused and showed the diamond packet and the accused agreed to purchase it. But later he reportedly returned the diamond packet to the complainant’s brother. But, when the complainant and his brother went to Secunderabad to meet another customer and opened the packet they noticed that the diamonds in the packet were not genuine.City cops under the supervision of ACP of Sultan Bazar division, Devendar, swung into action and nabbed the accused. The other cops who were involved n the operation is; Ravinder Reddy, Inspector of Afzaganj PS, Detective Inspector a Satish, and others.
