YS Jagan announces YSRCP boycott of Assembly sessions over denial of opposition status asking MLCs to raise public issues in Council while MLAs address concerns through daily press briefings.

- YS Jagan skips Assembly over opposition status issue.
- YSRCP MLCs to lead debates in Council.
- MLAs asked to hold daily press briefings.
Former chief minister and YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken a key decision on participation in the ongoing Andhra Pradesh budget sessions. He announced that the party will stay away from the Legislative Assembly in protest against not being granted opposition status.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the YSRCP legislature party held at the Tadepalli party office, attended by party MLAs and MLCs. Jagan said the party had earlier adopted the same stand and would continue to boycott the Assembly until opposition status is formally recognised.
According to Jagan, meaningful discussion on public issues is not possible without opposition status, as speaking time is limited to individual members. He alleged that the Speaker and the ruling coalition were deliberately denying the status to restrict debate on people issues.
While Assembly sessions will be skipped, Jagan directed YSRCP MLCs to actively participate in the Legislative Council where the party has numerical strength and recognised opposition status. He instructed them to raise major public issues and question the government with facts and preparation.
The party plans to highlight issues including the Tirumala laddu controversy attacks on YSRCP leaders land allocations in Visakhapatnam and other governance concerns. Jagan asked MLCs to present evidence based arguments and ensure sustained pressure on the government in the Council.
Jagan also issued clear instructions to party MLAs to engage with the public and media. As they are not attending Assembly sessions, MLAs were told to hold daily press conferences and briefings from the party office on issues discussed in the House.
He added that senior leaders including himself would also address the media when major developments arise. The strategy aims to keep public issues in focus despite the Assembly boycott and ensure the party voice remains strong during the session.
