Residents across several parts of Hyderabad are set to experience a day long disruption in water supply starting Saturday, May 2, as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board begins scheduled maintenance work.
Officials said the shutdown is necessary to clean an old balancing tank located at the Asifnagar filter bed. The work is expected to begin at 6 am on Saturday and continue until 6 am on Sunday, during which water flow will either be reduced or temporarily halted in multiple localities.
Authorities have advised residents to plan ahead and store sufficient water, as supply pressure may drop significantly in affected zones. The board also urged people to use water carefully during this period to avoid inconvenience.
Areas likely to face disruption include Red Hills, Nampally, Mallepally, Seetarambagh, Hindi Nagar, Assembly, Secretariat New MLA Quarters, Adarshnagar, South Central Railway area, Gunfoundry and nearby locations under Goshamahal and Karwan divisions.
In addition, Chintal Basti, Vijayanagar Colony, Old Mallepally, Asifnagar and Ahmed Nagar in the Golconda zone will also be impacted. Residents in Kavadiguda, Gandhinagar and Domalaguda areas, along with parts of Banjara Hills, may face similar issues during the maintenance window.
Officials explained that such maintenance work is essential to ensure better water quality and uninterrupted supply in the long run. They appealed to citizens for cooperation and patience as teams carry out the cleaning process.
The water board added that normal supply is expected to resume gradually once the work is completed, restoring regular services across all affected areas.
