A spell of unstable weather is set to continue across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for the next three days, with authorities urging people to stay alert as thunderstorms and lightning activity are expected alongside intense heat.
According to disaster management officials, a weather trough stretching from Vidarbha through Telangana and Rayalaseema down to Tamil Nadu is driving these sudden changes. This system is likely to trigger moderate rainfall with lightning in several districts, especially in Parvathipuram Manyam Alluri Sitarama Raju Visakhapatnam Kakinada Konaseema and East Godavari.
Light to moderate showers accompanied by gusty winds are also expected in Srikakulam Vizianagaram West Godavari Chittoor and Tirupati districts. Wind speeds may reach up to 50 to 60 kilometres per hour, raising concerns about damage to infrastructure and risk to public safety.
While rain offers some relief, extreme heat continues to grip the region. Temperatures have crossed 41 degrees Celsius in dozens of mandals, with Pedaparupudi in Krishna district recording a high of 43.9 degrees. Cities like Vijayawada Nandyal and Nellore are experiencing severe heat and humidity, making conditions uncomfortable for residents.
Telangana is witnessing a similar pattern, where hot afternoons are followed by sudden evening showers. In Hyderabad and surrounding districts, fluctuating weather has become common, while northern parts of the state may even experience hailstorms. Districts such as Khammam Warangal and Nalgonda are recording temperatures above 42 degrees, adding to the discomfort.
Officials have issued safety advisories, especially for farmers and outdoor workers. People are advised to avoid standing under trees or in open fields during lightning and to stay away from electric poles and weak structures during strong winds. Adequate hydration and precautions against heat exposure are also strongly recommended.
Authorities stress that these sudden weather shifts can pose risks, and staying informed and cautious over the coming days will be crucial for both urban residents and rural communities.
