A major transformation in rail connectivity is on the horizon for Amaravati, as plans for a high speed railway corridor promise to drastically reduce travel time between Hyderabad and the Andhra Pradesh capital. The project is expected to reshape regional transport and strengthen economic links between key cities.
With the proposed high speed rail line, travel between Hyderabad and Amaravati could be completed in just 90 to 120 minutes. The route is planned through important locations such as Shamshabad, Nalgonda, Suryapet, and Nandigama, before reaching Amaravati. From there, the corridor will extend further towards Guntur, Nellore, and Chennai, creating a seamless connection between major urban centers.
Initially, Amaravati was not part of the primary high speed rail plan between Hyderabad and Chennai. However, following requests from the state government, authorities revised the alignment to include the capital region. This change is expected to position Amaravati as a central hub in the emerging high speed rail network.
The project also includes the construction of a new railway line stretching about 57 kilometers from Errupalem to Namburu. One of its most striking features will be a three kilometer long bridge across the Krishna River, designed as an iconic structure that could also serve as a tourist attraction.
The central government has allocated around Rs 2245 crore for this development, highlighting its importance in enhancing infrastructure. Officials aim to complete the work by 2029, after which the service will be opened to passengers.
By significantly reducing travel time and improving accessibility, the Amaravati railway project is expected to boost trade, business, and overall regional development. It also promises to offer a faster and more convenient travel option for everyday passengers.
