A major breakthrough in the Vijayawada terror links case has revealed disturbing details about a suspected extremist network operating across several states. Police confirmed that one individual has been arrested in Hyderabad as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case came to light after Counter Intelligence officials carried out early morning raids in Vijayawada, particularly in the busy Vinchipeta area. The sudden operation created panic among residents, as authorities began uncovering links to a larger organised group.
According to investigators, the group had been functioning discreetly for months, avoiding attention after earlier arrests made by Gujarat ATS in 2025. The network reportedly consisted of around 12 members who operated through online platforms under different identities.
Officials found that social media played a key role in their activities. The suspects were running multiple groups to spread extremist ideologies and influence youth. These digital platforms were used to communicate, recruit and share content linked to radical views.
The group, allegedly formed under a specific name, had connections spanning states like West Bengal, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Bihar, Maharashtra and Delhi. Authorities are now working to track down other members, including a suspect from Bihar who is currently absconding.
Police have seized mobile phones and electronic devices from the arrested individuals, which are being examined for further evidence. Intelligence agencies are also coordinating with other states to identify and detain additional suspects linked to the case.
Officials say the investigation is still ongoing and more arrests are likely. The focus remains on dismantling the network completely and preventing any potential threat, while also monitoring online platforms used for spreading such content.
