Foxconn confirms setting up of its unit in City: CMO

Hyderabad: Dismissing reports in a section of media that Foxconn Technologies has gone back on its proposal to set up its unit in the city, an official government communiqué reiterated on Monday sharing a formal letter written by the Company’s Chairman Young Liu to none other than the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
The letter was written on Monday after the publication of reports claiming no formal assurance that the state government had got as it proposed to create one lakh jobs. “This amply clears the doubts as raised in a certain section of the press that, the World-Famous Foxconn Company was in a dilemma as to whether to set up the manufacturing facility in Telangana or not,” the press note from CMO said.It further clarified that the Company Chairman in his letter referred to discussions he held with the CM KCR on March 2. He also conveyed his sincere gratitude for the hospitality extended to him and his team during their visit to the city. The Chairman also described the visit as wonderful. He was also highly impressed with the Chief Minister’s bonhomie and thanked him for his warm birthday wishes and a personalized card.“I was indeed inspired by your vision and the efforts towards the transformation and development of Telangana. I now have a new friend in India and I look forward to working with you in the future”, he said in his letter to the CM. He concluded by saying he looks forward to meeting KCR soon.
Chairman Young Liu extended an invitation to the Chief Minister of Taiwan as his guest mentioning that it would be his honor to host KCR in Taipei. It may be recalled here that, when both CM KCR and Chairman, of Foxconn Technology Group, Young Liu, met in Pragathi Bhavan on March 2, it was agreed that Foxconn would set up an electronics manufacturing facility in Telangana with employment generation potential for over one lakh people.
Chief Minister emphasized that Telangana considers Taiwan as a natural partner and that the State is glad to be a part of Foxconn’s growth story. The occasion was utilized by KCR and Young Liu to discuss the importance of diversifying electronics manufacturing for a resilient supply chain and the pivotal role to be played by the State Governments. The Chief Minister said that the government has been successful in implementing a new industrial policy and attracted huge investment in Telangana. CM KCR said that Fox Conn’s huge investment and the opportunity to create more than one lakh jobs like never before in Telangana State is commendable.
The Foxconn Chairman then said that his organization has studied extensively about the state of Telangana. The chairman of Fox Conn praised the friendly industrial development ecosystem created in Telangana State. Young Liu expressed happiness over the progress achieved by the Telangana state in the industrial sector, especially in IT and related electronics sectors in a short span of eight and half years.
