Telangana govt to construct Rs 6,250 cr airport express metro corridor project; foundation on Dec 9

Date:

Hyderabad, Nov 27 : Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will lay the foundation stone for Rs 6,250 crore metro corridor project from MindSpace junction to Shamshabad International airport, on December 9. At a meeting held at the Pragathi Bhavan here, Mr Rao decided to extend the Metro Corridor from Rayadurgam Metro Terminal at MindSpace Junction to Shamshabad International Airport and plans to complete this project in the next three years.
The CM said that the state government will build this metro project on a total length of 31 KM.
This Metro will proceed via Biodiversity Junction and go through Kazhaguda Road touching NanakRamguda Junction at Outer Ring Road (ORR). Metro trains run from the airport through a special route (right of way).
Many international companies will establish their offices along this Corridor and Hyderabad City is going to become a destination for more investments owing to the metro project and become a global city.
To meet the future transport needs of Hyderabad, which has become a global city, the Metro Project (airport express high way) has been designed to reach Shamshabad Airport from any corner of the city in the shortest time.
All major metro cities of the world had also developed metro rail facility to the airport and in this background, this metro project with international standards is designed under CM KCR’s vision of promoting Hyderabad a cosmopolitan city, Minister for Municipal Administration K T Rama Rao (KTR) said on the occasion.
With the intention of coping with the day by day traffic in Hyderabad city, the Telangana government is already providing transport infrastructure on a large scale with the efforts of the state, the Minister said.
Under the direction of CM KCR, the state government is strengthening many projects, flyovers, link roads and other road systems, Mr KTR added..
On Friday, the Minister after inaugurating the new flyover at Shilpa Layout in the city, said expansion of Hyderabad Metro Rail will happen with or without the centre’s support.
He said Phase II expansion will be completed on the lines of phase-I irrespective of the Union Government’s cooperation with the state.
He blamed the delay in taking up Phase-II works on pandemic-induced financial straits and non-cooperation from the Centre.
Deliberations are on with the Centre for the 63 km works of Metro Rail line — 26 km between BHEL and Lakdi-ka-pul, five km between Nagole and LB Nagar, and from Mindspace to RGI Airport — and these will be taken up with or without the latter’s co-operation, Mr.KTR asserted.
Phase-I of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project spanning over 69 kilometers was successfully implemented and is fully operational. Incidentally, it is the world’s largest Metro Rail Project in PPP mode under the Viability Gap Funding scheme of the central.
