Liquor shops across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will remain shut on January twenty six as governments enforce a dry day for Republic Day celebrations citing law order and public safety reasons

People planning to buy alcohol in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been advised to take note as liquor shops will remain closed on January twenty six due to Republic Day celebrations. The decision follows official orders issued by both state governments to observe the day as a dry day.
Republic Day is celebrated across the country to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution. On this occasion national flags are hoisted in government offices schools colleges and public places. To ensure the celebrations are conducted peacefully authorities have decided to suspend liquor sales for the day.
According to officials all wine shops bars pubs clubs and restaurants serving alcohol will remain closed throughout Monday. The restriction applies across urban and rural areas in both Telugu states. Liquor sales will resume on Tuesday as per regular timings.
The excise departments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have issued clear instructions to enforce the closure strictly. Officials have warned that action will be taken against anyone found violating the dry day rules. Shop owners have already displayed notices informing customers about the temporary closure.
Such restrictions are not new and are implemented every year on important national occasions including Republic Day Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti. Authorities believe that suspending liquor sales helps maintain public order and allows citizens to observe these days with respect.
In addition to liquor shops some states have also announced closure of meat shops and restrictions on non vegetarian food sales in hotels for the day. With these measures in place authorities aim to ensure smooth Republic Day celebrations across the Telugu states.
