Strong action by the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education has sent a clear message as mass copying during inter practical examinations came to light across several colleges in Hyderabad. The issue surfaced while exams were under live surveillance.
Practical examinations, which began earlier this month, were closely monitored through a command control centre set up by the board. CCTV feeds from government and private colleges were reviewed in real time, revealing serious violations at multiple centres during Wednesday’s exams.
Officials found that instead of supervising students, some examiners actively facilitated copying. In a few centres, CCTV cameras were deliberately switched off or tampered with to avoid detection. In other cases, examiners were seen distributing answer slips and awarding marks even before the exam time ended.
Following the findings, the board acted swiftly and removed fourteen examiners from duty. Most of the reported violations were traced to private and corporate colleges in areas such as Jubilee Hills, Malakpet and Kukatpally, where mass copying was found to be widespread.
The Inter Board announced a strict zero tolerance policy in response to the incident. The examiners involved have been permanently barred from participating in any future theory or practical examinations conducted by the board.
Education officials said enhanced surveillance and stricter enforcement will continue to ensure fairness in the examination process. The board has made it clear that any compromise on exam integrity will invite immediate and firm action.
