A series of tragic incidents linked to kite flying has shaken Hyderabad, with two serious accidents involving children reported within just twenty four hours.

In one incident a ten year old boy lost his life after falling from a building terrace while flying a kite in Mailardevpally police station limits. The child had climbed onto the rooftop for recreation when he reportedly slipped and fell sustaining severe injuries.

Local residents rushed the boy to a nearby hospital but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police later shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination and registered a case to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fall.

A similar incident was reported from Kukatpally where another child suffered a powerful electric shock while attempting to retrieve a kite stuck on a transformer. The boy accidentally came into contact with live wires and fell unconscious.

He was immediately taken to a hospital where doctors said his condition remains critical. The incident once again highlighted the dangers posed by kite flying near electrical installations.

Residents and parents expressed concern as kite flying which was once seen as harmless fun is increasingly turning dangerous especially for children playing on rooftops and near power infrastructure.
