Congress Secures Thorrur and Jangaon Municipal Chairs Through Lucky Draw

Congress strengthened its municipal hold as chairman elections in Thorrur and Jangaon were decided by lucky draw giving the party key leadership posts amid tight contests with BRS.

Congress has added two more municipalities to its tally with victories in Thorrur and Jangaon where chairman posts were decided through the lucky draw method after closely fought contests. The results have shifted the balance in local body politics across the region.

In Thorrur municipality the chairman election went to a draw after both sides failed to gain a clear edge. Officials conducted a lucky draw in which Congress candidate Thunam Shravan emerged successful and was declared chairman. The vice chairman post also went to Congress candidate Soma Rajini through the same process.

A similar situation unfolded in Jangaon municipality where both Congress and BRS candidates secured equal votes during the chairman election. With no clear winner authorities resorted to a draw and Congress nominee Kadakanchi Balamani was selected as chairman. The vice chairman position in Jangaon was won by BRS candidate Parvathaalu.

Meanwhile Congress also registered a win in Medak district as Zahira bad municipality chairman post went to the party after an independent councillor extended last minute support. Yunus was elected chairman marking another gain for Congress in municipal leadership.
