The murder of writer and YouTuber Boggula Srinivas has been solved by Khammam police, uncovering a chilling story of betrayal rooted in financial conflict. Investigators confirmed that the crime was orchestrated by his close friend Mekala Venumadhav Reddy, who allegedly hired contract killers for five lakh rupees to eliminate him.
Srinivas, a native of Nandikotkur, had been living in Hyderabad for nearly two decades and was known for his work as an author and content creator. He had studied at Silver Jubilee College in Kurnool, where he became friends with Venumadhav Reddy. The two reconnected during an alumni meet, eventually entering a business arrangement.
According to police, the dispute stemmed from misuse of Srinivas’s GST license under the name Boggula BBQ. Venumadhav Reddy allegedly generated fake invoices through his firm Meka Projects and claimed GST refunds. Between 2022 and 2025, nearly ninety lakh rupees were earned, but Srinivas reportedly received only fifteen lakh rupees instead of his agreed share. When tax officials detected irregularities, Srinivas’s GST license was cancelled, further escalating tensions.
Police said Srinivas pressured his friend to clear the pending amount and help restore the license. Venumadhav allegedly told him that penalties exceeding one crore rupees would be required, leading to serious conflict. Investigators believe this dispute pushed him to plan the murder.
The accused allegedly contacted a contract gang from Aswaraopeta and paid an advance. On the night of the thirteenth, Srinivas was lured into a car under the pretext of travelling to Vijayawada. In the early hours of the fourteenth, he was attacked with knives and iron rods in an isolated stretch between Nakirekal and Jangaon. The attackers later pushed the car into the Paleru reservoir to make the murder appear like a road accident.
After confirming it was a homicide, Tirupati Reddy formed four special teams to investigate the case. Police analysed call data, toll gate CCTV footage, travel routes and financial records. The car used in the crime was traced to Venumadhav, who went missing after the incident, strengthening suspicion.
Within a week, Khammam district police arrested the main accused along with three others in Kusumanchi. Officials clarified that Srinivas’s book titled Pawan Hatao and Jana Sena party workers had no connection to the crime, stressing that it was purely a financial dispute turned violent.
