A tragic road accident near Perambalur claimed the life of a driver while television actress Devi Priya narrowly escaped with her life in the early hours of Monday.
The actress was travelling from Chennai to Tiruchi along with her assistant when the incident occurred. According to initial reports, their car developed a tyre puncture on the highway. The driver, identified as Muthu Ganesh, 38, pulled the vehicle to the side of the road to replace the damaged tyre.
While he was attending to the repair, an unidentified speeding vehicle reportedly rammed into their parked car. The impact proved fatal for the driver, who died on the spot. Devi Priya, who was standing beside the vehicle at the time, escaped unhurt in what many described as a narrow miss.
